Founded in 2011, Burford’s Construction is the leading provider of services in the electric utility industry throughout the Burford’s Construction, founded in 2011, provides civil construction and vegetation management services throughout the Southeastern, Midwestern, and Western United States. We support energy and infrastructure development through site preparation, right-of-way clearing, access and environmental readiness across complex terrain and demanding project environments. As part of 1 Pike, Burford’s Construction coordinates this site readiness work directly with engineering and construction teams, helping projects stay on schedule from the ground up.

Coates Covington, President

Coates Covington serves as President of Burford’s Construction, in which he oversees the management of all service lines across all territories.

Prior to joining Burford’s Construction at the company’s inception, Coates served the utility industry in many facets, including operations, safety, fleet services and pre-construction.

Coates holds a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction from Auburn University.

Chris Kanute, Vice President

Chris Kanute is Operations Vice President of Burford’s Construction. Prior to this role, he served as Regional Manager at Burford’s, overseeing operations across multiple project sites and teams

With over 30 years of utility civil construction experience, Chris has developed deep expertise in field operations and project execution.

In addition to his professional experience, Chris completed a construction management program at Clemson University.
